CAIRO, April 24 (KUNA) -- Bayt Al-Suhaymi is an old Arab house with a distinctive Ottoman architecture located in Al-Darb Al-Asfar, a very prestigious and expensive neighborhood of Islamic Cairo.
The house consists of two parts, the north part which was built by Sheikh Abdul Wahab Tablawi in 1648, and the second part built by Haj Ismail bin Ismail Shalabi in 1797, who later brought the two parts together.
The house was built in Ottoman style; the ground floor is mainly for men's reception, while the second floor was reserved for women.
Al-Suhaimi House is used as an open museum of Islamic architecture and as a center for artistic creativity of the Cultural Development Fund. (end) asm.nhq
