BRUSSELS, Feb 15 (KUNA) -- EU High Representative Federica Mogherini met in Brussel on Friday with the US Secretary of State Michael Pompeo and discussed a wide range of issues including Syria and Afghanistan.
According to a statement released by Mogherini's office, they discussed the need to ensure a political transition in Syria and support to peace in Afghanistan.
"They underlined the importance of transatlantic cooperation between the European Union and the United States on a wide range of foreign policy issues, including the current work towards a peaceful and democratic transition in Venezuela," it said.
The two also discussed denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula ahead of the upcoming US-North Korea summit, situation in Ukraine, as well as EU-US cooperation in the Western Balkans, in particular following the entry into force of the agreement between Greece and Macedonia to resolve the name dispute.
