DOHA, Jan 21 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's Olympic Football team defeated Tajikistan on Monday 1-0 in a friendly tournament host by Doha, Qatar.
The tournament held on Aspire sporting facility, with the participation of Qatar, Kuwait, Iran and Tajikistan.
Kuwaiti team Director Hussein Fadhel told KUNA after the match that the tournament witnessed a great competition from strong and experienced teams, which benefit Kuwait's players for the upcoming official matches.
Fadhel expressed appreciation to the Qatari Football Association for the invitation to participate in this friendly tournament, and commended excellent organization and good reception.
The Tajik team won the first place in the championship with six points, while the Iranian team came second and Qatar third with four points each and the Kuwaiti team fourth with three points.
Kuwait Football Association is currently preparing the Olympic team according to a plan set by the technical committee to be implemented in several stages, including friendly matches in preparation for the upcoming events, such as (Tokyo Olympics 2020). (end) nnd.aa
