By Zaid Bushaiba KUWAIT, Jan 16 (KUNA) -- Upon directives from His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, urgent aid worth USD 1.5 million is on its way to Syrian refugees in Lebanon, Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) announced Wednesday.
The aid came to ease suffering of Syrian refugees in Lebanese camps, especially Al-Rukban refugee camp, which went under massive destruction due to harshly cold and blizzards-driven winter, said Dr. Hilal Al-Sayer, KRCS chief.
He told KUNA that such generous donation stemmed from His Highness's humanitarian empathy towards the tens of thousands of refugees there.
He noted that a KRCS team will head to Lebanon tomorrow to distribute the aid, as well as to assess and estimate needs of refugees on the ground in coordination with the Lebanese Red Cross. (end) zh.hb
