KUWAIT, Dec 22 (KUNA) -- The Emirati Abu Dhabi Storms crowned champions of the first professional GCC hockey team's championship on Saturday after beating the runners-up team Kuwait Stars (11-7) in the Final hosted by the Kuwait Winter Games Club.
The Jeddah team from Saudi Arabia placed third after defeating the Oman Rockers (11-3) in the last game of the tournament.
In the closing ceremony, the Deputy Director-General of the Public Authority for Sports Dr. Saqr Al-Mulla said that hosting such an event that brings the GCC sportsmen is an excellent achievement for the Kuwaiti sport.
On a similar note, the Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Championship and President of the Kuwait Winter Games Club Fheid Al-Ajmi hailed the success of the tournament and the high level of performance presented by a number of pro-players. (end) fsa.fs.aq
