NEW YORK, Nov 20 (KUNA) -- Kuwait has expressed hope to see positive development in the Syrian political process before the end of 2018.
"The Sochi agreement on forming a constitutional committee for Syria signed last January raised hopes on a political transtion. However, after about 11 months, we haven't noticed any development in the matter," Kuwait's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Ambassador Mansour Al-Otaibi said in his speech at the UN Security Council's session on Syria late Monday.
He called on the UN's special envoy to continue his communications with all parties in charge of establishing the committee in order to launch it before end of this year.
The committee is a vital step towards reaching a political solution, Al-Otaibi said, noting the UN's resolution number 2254 on forming a new constitution and holding elections that include all Syrians inside and outside of Syria, under the UN's supervision. (end) asf.ag
