KUWAIT, Nov 14 (KUNA) -- Operations at all oil sector is normal and was not affected by the unstable weather conditions, the sector's spokesman Sheikh Talal Khaled Al-Sabah said on Wednesday.
Speaking to KUNA, Sheikh Talal said that the oil operations include production and refining as well as providing the local market with fuel, oil products and natural gas.
He stressed the continuation of the state of emergency at the oil sector to overcome any challenges resulted from the downpours hitting the country.
He affirmed that the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) and its subsidiaries are keen on offering permanent support and assistance to all teams and concerned state agencies in response to emergencies.
The oil sector has provided the Ministry of Public Works with some pumps to control rainwater accumulated, he said.
He further said that other pumps were delivered to the Ministry of Electricity and Water for the same purpose.
Minister of Oil and Minister of Electricity and Water Bakheet Al-Rashidi visited the crisis management center of the KPC to get acquainted with the latest developments regarding dealing with the heavy rains for the safety of workers and to ensure continued operations at the sector in all locations, the spokesman revealed.
Meanwhile, Kuwaiti meteorologist Yasser Al-Boloushi predicted heavy downpours in the country Wednesday evening.
He told KUNA that the country is witnessing volatile weather conditions and scattered heavy rains in some areas in the evening. (end) osj.msa.hm
