GAZA, Nov 11 (KUNA) -- Palestinian faction Hamas on Sunday accused Israel of assassinating one of its senior leaders and killing several other Palestinians.
The Palestinian Health Ministry earlier announced that six Palestinians had been shot dead by Israeli forces.
Disguised in a civilian car, a special ops unit carried out a drive-by shooting some 3 km east of Khan Younis, in southern Gaza, which killed Nour Baraka, Hamas said in a statement.
After opening fire and escaping the scene, Israeli military bombardment prevented attempts to chase the assailants, according to the account.
Israeli fighters continue to patrol the area, Hamas added, describing the situation there as "dangerous." (end) wab.sd
