IRBIL, Oct 21 (KUNA) -- The ruling Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) came first in a parliamentary election in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, winning 45 seats, the election commission announced on Sunday.
The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) was in second place with 21 seats, while the Movement for Change party was a distant third with 12 seats, head of the Independent High Election and Referendum Commission (IHERC) Handren Mohammed said in a press conference.
The election took place on September 30 but results were delayed due to the commission receiving and investigating over 1,000 complaints of electoral violations.
