RAMALLAH, July 9 (KUNA) -- Members of the Israeli Parliament "Knesset" on Monday broke into Al-Aqsa Mosque, under heavy protection by Israeli forces.
The Knesset members who entered the compound were Amir Ohana, Yehuda Glick and Cheri Maalam, Islamic Endowments Department said in a press statement. That came after the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced the lifting of the ban on visits to Al-Aqsa Mosque he had issued in 2015.
The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs considered the incursion as an extension of the comprehensive war launched by the occupation authorities aimed at completing the separation of Jerusalem from its Palestinian surroundings.
In a press statement, the Ministry warned against daily incursions into the mosque and its courtyards and called on the international community and relevant UN organizations to take serious and effective action to ensure the implementation of their resolutions on Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque.
