RIYADH, May 25 (KUNA) -- The Saudi-led Arab coalition for supporting legitimacy in Yemen gave, for the second time in less than a month, Al-Balsam International Organization easy access to Yemen to provide medical aid in coordination with the legitimate government.
The command of the coalition reaffirmed in a statement on Friday its commitment to facilitating the activities of this aid agency that made the positive results in its first campaign in Mukalla, the provincial capital of Hadhramaut Governorate, south Yemen earlier in May.
Al-Balsam conducted many heart surgeries for needy patients, including 12 open-heart surgeries and 125 catheterizations for adults, according to the statement carried by the Saudi Press Agency.
The Yemeni Ministry of Health and Population had received a request from Nabd Al-Hayat Center, located in Mukalla, for conducting urgent surgeries for other numbers of heart patients in need.
Today's decision to provide logistical support to Al-Balsam comes in continuation of the efforts of the Arab coalition to facilitate the activities of the international aid agencies in Yemen, the statement pointed out.
It also comes in the framework of the comprehensive humanitarian plan to alleviate the suffering of Yemenis due to acts of the Iranian-backed Houthi militia which continues destroying the infrastructure and health facilities in Yemen.
The medical team of Al-Balsam International Organization will leave for Yemen in the coming days, according to the statement. (end) mdm.gb
