RAMALLAH, May 4 (KUNA) -- The Palestinian National Council (PNC) instructed the Executive Committee of Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) to suspend recognition of Israel until it recognizes the State of Palestine with the 1969 borders and revokes annexation of East Jerusalem, PNC said in a press release.
The council, which concluded its four days' meetings in Ramallah Friday, stressed need to implement the decision of the Central Council in its last two sessions to stop all forms of security coordination with Tel Aviv.
It called for elimination of economic dependence stipulated by the Paris Protocol to achieve an independent national economy, the statement added.
The council renewed rejection of US President Donald Trump's decision, which it called "illegal," proclaiming Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, and called for action to nullify it.
It decided to intensify efforts on the international level to strengthen the international status of the State of Palestine, which would help it attain full membership in the United Nations, enabling it to join international bodies and organizations.
Moreover, it demanded immediate referring of Israel's war crimes file to the International Criminal Court to open a judicial investigation and punish those responsible.
Furthermore, the council pledged to work for providing international protection for the Palestinian people under occupation and to counter Israel's bid for non-permanent membership in the UN Security Council.
The 23rd council session approved new line-up of the Executive Committee, with President Mahmoud Abbas as its chairman.
At the closing session, the council announced names of the independent members of the Palestinian Central Council.
The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), Hamas and Islamic Jihad did not participate in the council meetings. (End) nq.nhq
