KUWAIT, April 24 (KUNA) -- An international training program on women will be launched on April 26-27 under the slogan "Arab women at international organizations between status and empowerment." This was announced on Tuesday by Adnan Al-Haddad, chairman of the organizing committee of the 4th conference on women and community responsibility in the Arab countries.
Speaking at a news conference, Haddad said the two-day event will include 20 women from all over the world, referring to the Kuwaiti outstanding role in empowering woman and enhancing her societal role.
Al-Haddad noted that the women participating in the conference would represent 13 Arab and Gulf countries, indicating that there will be many gathering during the event to help participants exchange experiences.
There will be also five discussion sessions featuring personalities from civil society organizations, Arab and international organizations, Social Affairs Ministry and Arab Planning Institute, he stated.
He pointed to Arab women working at international organizations, and a strategy on empowering Arab women in the UN posts.
Meanwhile, Fatma Al-Khan, executive director of regional network of social responsibility in Bahrain, said the aim is to build the Arab woman's capacity and help her assume leadership positions.
She added the objectives of the conference include the identification of professional tools in preparing Arab women to work at international organizations and the direct use of experts in these organizations as well as the provision of an opportunity to submit action papers in a simulation session of the UN model.
The conference also involves some other events like honoring the winners. (end) mtt.hm
