KUWAIT, March 22 (KUNA) -- The Kuwait Anticorruption Authority (Nazaha) seeks to partner government and non-government organizations in formulating a national strategy to fight corruption and promote integrity and transparency, Nazaha chief stated.
Speaking at the closing session of the first workshop on Kuwait's national anti-graft strategy, Nazaha Chairman Abdulrahman Al-Nemash said that the main objective of the workshop was to gather views of a broad range of institutions and individuals about the best and most effective approaches in tackling corruption.
He pointed out that the anti-corruption strategy should include sophisticated procedures, mechanisms and practices to help curb different aspects of corruption in institutions: notably bribery, influence peddling, and squandering of public funds.
He hoped the success of the draft strategy would help create a graft-free environment across Kuwait.
Nazaha would spare no effort to render the national strategy successful including reaching out to all government and non-government organizations to listen to their views and benefit from their experiences, Al-Nemash vowed.
Last year, Nazaha approved terms of reference for setting a comprehensive national strategy for integrity, transparency, and anticorruption to guarantee Kuwait's compliance with standards identified in the United Nations Convention against Corruption and to improve Kuwait's ranking on the global Corruption Perceptions Index.
