KUWAIT, March 18 (KUNA) -- The committee on the presidential elections 2018 at Egypt Embassy in Kuwait closed its doors Sunday evening after the last voters cast their ballots.
Egyptian Ambassador to Kuwait Tareq Al-Qouni expressed profound gratitude to the Kuwaiti authorities for contributing to the orderly and successful elections.
He attributed the success of the voting to the wise instructions of the Kuwaiti leadership to facilitate the process and meet all demands of the embassy, including those relating to the security and consular services.
"It is the tradition of the leaders and people of sisterly Kuwait to stand by Egypt if need be," he said in statements to KUNA following the elections.
"The Kuwaiti ministries of interior and foreign affairs provides all necessary assistance for the embassy to ensure smooth and orderly organization of the polls," Ambassador Al-Qouni pointed out.
"The embassy staffers and the personnel of the Kuwaiti security worked patiently as one team over the last three days to facilitate the electoral process amid large turnout.
"They offered every help to the Egyptian voters who were keen on exercising their national duty to participate in the elections," he went on.
Ambassador Al-Qouni also thanked the voters who queued at the embassy and nearby areas to cast their votes, adding that the large turnout for the overseas elections will encourage the voters at home to go to the polls.
Soon after the conclusion of the elections, the electoral committee started counting the votes as a prelude to declaration of the results. (end) mrf.fsh.gb
