CAIRO, Feb 13 (KUNA) -- Kuwait Ambassador to Egypt Mohammad Al-Thuwaikh lauded the exemplary relations between the two countries in all areas including the cultural field.
Speaking to KUNA on the sidelines of the opening ceremony of the figurative art gallery of Kuwait's Sakina Al-Kut at Cairo Opera House on Tuesday, he said the embassy is keen on cementing the bilateral ties under the wise leaderships of both countries.
On the art gallery, themed "feather of peace," he said, "the event is part of the 2018 agenda of Embassy's cultural activities in Egypt and takes place in the run-up to the celebrations of Kuwait's 57th National Day and the 27th Liberation Day." This year's agenda also includes a cultural week, due in March or April, and the participation in a contest for poets from both countries and the celebration, due later this month, of the 60 anniversary of Al-Arabi, a Kuwait-based Arabic monthly magazine that focuses on the cultural, literary, artist, soccial themes of the Arab world, he pointed out.
"Sakina Al-Kut is a creative artist who has an innovative vision for using feather to express humanitarian and social dimensions in her paintings," Ambassador Al-Thuwaikh said.
Art is cross-border means of communication that helps reach out to people beyond boundaries of culture, place and time, he added, citing the immortal centuries-old works of art.
On her part, Al-Kut voiced joy for the large number of diplomats, men of letters, critics and artists in attendance at the opening of the gallery.
"This is my third gallery in Egypt; it displays 42 paintings most notable among which is 'Talahom' (coming together) featuring His Highness the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah - the Humanitarian Leader - as a tribute to his support to the fair issues of the Arab world," she told KUNA.
The gallery is a manifestation of the close relations and the growing relations and cultural exchanges between Kuwait and Egypt, she added. (end) msh.asm.gb
