KUWAIT, Feb 13 (KUNA) -- Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah met on Tuesday with EU Foreign Policy Chief and Vice President of the European Commission, Federica Mogherini on the occasion of her visit and participation in the International Coalition Against IS conference and Kuwait International Conference for the Reconstruction of Iraq (KICRI), hosted in Kuwait this week.
During the meeting, Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled lauded bilateral relations between Kuwait and the EU, and praising the European Union tremendous contribution to the stability and security of the region and the international arena.
For her part, Mogherini praised joint work and the strong relations between Kuwait and the European Union (EU).
Mogherini expressed her deep appreciation to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah for hosting KICRI, co-chaired by Kuwait, the Republic of Iraq, the United Nations, the EU, and the World Bank.
The EU Foreign Policy Chief also praised Kuwait's efforts and support to regional and international stability and security, and the challenges facing the region.
The EU will work with the State of Kuwait to strengthen support for Iraq in this critical time, stressing that the Union is keen to work with Kuwait in order to promote stability and prosperity in Iraq, Mogherini added.
The meeting was attended by Foreign Minister Assistant for European Affairs Ambassador Walid Al-Khubaizi, Foreign Minister Assistant for Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Office Ambassador Sheikh Dr. Ahmad Nasser Mohammad Al-Sabah, Assistant Foreign Minister for Protocol Affairs, Ambassador Dhari Al-Ajran, Deputy Assistant Foreign Minister for the Office of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Saleh Al-Logani, Kuwait Ambassador to Belgium and Head of the Mission to the EU and NATO Ambassador Jassim Al-Bedawi, Assistant Foreign Minister Assistant for International Organization Plenipotentiary Minister Nasser Al-Hain, Assistant Foreign Minister for European Affairs Mohammad Hayati, and a number of senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
