ANKARA, Feb 13 (KUNA) -- The Turkish army said Tuesday fighter jets destroyed 16 positions of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) in northern Iraq.
Turkish warplanes attacked and destroyed 16 PKK positions in Sinath-Haftanin area, northern Iraq, including hideouts and depots, the army said in a statement.
The positions, it added, were used as launch-pads for PKK attacks on Turkish military posts and border stations.
Turkish fighter jets have been bombarding PKK positions in northern Iraq to crack down on the group.
PKK resumed fighting against Turkish forces in July 2015, ending around three and a half years lull. The renewal of hostilities killed more than 1,450 Turkish servicemen and civilians. (end) rs.bs
