JEDDAH, Feb 5 (KUNA) -- Saudi air defense forces have intercepted and knocked down a ballistic missile fired from Houthi militias in Yemen in direction of southern Saudi town of Khamis Mushait, said the command of the joint forces of the alliance for supporting legitimacy in Yemen on Monday .

The coalition spokesman Turki Al-Malki said in a statement that the air defense forces intercepted arly today the ballistic missile, fired by the Iran-affiliated Houthi militias in Saadah, Yemen.
The rocket targeted Khamis Mushait with the intention to hit populated districts, he said.
The new attack proves anew engagement of the Iranian regime in supporting the armed Houthi group with advanced weapons. It also constitutes a new explicit breach of the UN resolutions 2216 and 2231, with aim of threatening security of the kingdom, the region and the world, he added.
