BERLIN, Jan 12 (KUNA) -- The Christian Democrats and Social Democrats declared on Friday an agreement to begin talks for forming a new coalition government; four months after holding parliamentary elections on September 24.
Chancellor Angela Merkel, chairperson of the conservative Christian Democrats, said at a joint news conference with her Socialist count pert, Martin Shulz, that the accord would back up the nation role in Europe and the world.
The two sides have reached an understanding on tightening supervision on influx of immigrants to Europe, setting maximum number to be accepted in Germany per year at 180,000-220,000.
The German government, according to the agreement, would continue expelling citizens with criminal records from Morocco, Tunisia and Algeria.
The two parties have also agreed on limiting income of laborers and abstaining from raising taxes. (end) anj.rk
