KUWAIT, Nov 20 (KUNA) -- Kuwait Red Crescent (KRC), in cooperation with Iraqi Red Crescent (IRC), started Monday distributing humanitarian supplies to people in Iraq's Halabja and Sulaiymaniah governorates who suffered from a deadly earthquake recently.
"KRC have been following latest updates related to the earthquake which hit both Iraq and Iran on November 12 and resulted in huge loses in human lives and infrastructure", said Chairman of Kuwait Red Crescent Dr. Hilal Al-Sayer.
Dr. Al-Sayer added that more than 3,000 item of food and cleaning supplies were distributed, assuring more shipments are on the way to reach all needy people.
He praised cooperative efforts between Kuwait embassy in Baghdad and IRC to facilitate the delivery humanitarian supplies to people in the affected areas.
Al-Sayer clarified that KRC was deeply sympathize with the difficult situation there; this concern reflected the humanitarian responsibility of the KRC towards the peoples subjected to the human disasters.
Al-Sayer pointed that Kuwait has always been a pioneer in helping all needy people around the world. (end) akw.nhq
