RIYADH, Nov 14 (KUNA) -- Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman Bin Abdulaziz Foundation (Misk), and Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation launched Tuesday a joint initiative aimed at enabling youth to come up with solutions to education and citizenship.
The USD-10-million initiative, called Global Grand Challenges and launched during the Misk Global Forum, will allocate USD 100,000 for each of the 100 young people to finance their ideas.
The ideas that can develop into real projects would get further funding.
Bill Gates, who opened the Misk Global Forum, said the Grand Challenges would trigger more minds to search for better solutions for toughest challeges facing development.
Bader Al-Asaker, Secretary General of Misk, said in a statement the partnership between Misk and the Gates Foundation would enable the youth to come up with new solutions to global challenges.
The two challenges that were tabled were education and global citizenship.
The initiative aims at seeking innovative solutions to transform education systems and empower young people to succeed in the knowledge economy.
It also seeks bright ideas for how young people can help deliver the Global Goals for Sustainable Development to contribute to global citizenship.
Global Grand Challenges is part of international initiatives designed to address challenges facing health and development. (end) mdm.bs
