WASHINGTON, Oct 16 (KUNA) -- A presidential permit was issued by the US on Monday to increase the transport of crude oil and other hydrocarbons to around 890,000 barrels a day at a three-mile segment near the Canadian border.
The permit, issued to Enbridge Energy, increases transport through a pipeline constructed in 2010.
The determination was made to serve the national interest with regard to foreign policy, energy security, environmental, cultural, and economic impacts, said a release from the State Department. (end) ak
