TOKYO, Sept 4 (KUNA) -- Leaders of five major emerging national economies, known as BRICS, on Monday condemned North Korea's sixth nuclear test, according to their declaration at a summit held in the southeastern Chinese city of Xiamen. "We express deep concern over the ongoing tension and prolonged nuclear issue on the Korean Peninsula, as we emphasize that it should only be settled through peaceful means and direct dialogue between all the parties concerned," said the Xiamen Declaration carried by China's state-run Xinhua News Agency. The BRICS summit was presided over by Chinese President Xi Jinping and attended by leaders of Brazil, Russia, India and South Africa, including Russian President Vladimir Putin. Meanwhile, North Korea said Sunday it has successfully detonated a hydrogen bomb that can be carried by an intercontinental ballistic missile. (end) mk.nam
