KUWAIT, Feb 12 (KUNA) -- Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research registered a patent over combined use of distillation and vaporization in water desalination, KISR announced Sunday.
The US Patent and Trademark Office granted Dr. Essam Al-Deen Al-Sayed, of KISR's Water Research Center, a patent for inventing a new method that combined distillation and vaporization in desalination, KISR said in a statement.
It said the new method would begin the process by distillation in temperature range of 40-70 degrees celsius and then shifted to multi-phased vaporization in temperature range of 70-120 degrees celsius.
The new method, it added, provided new alternative for water supplies which would be treated by limited nanometeric filtration and to ultimately raise the temperature of saline water.
KISR said it now planned to seek partnership with a specialized international company in order to build distillation water stations in order to use this new method towards commercial use. (end) zak.bs
