ISTANBUL, Feb 12 (KUNA) -- Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Sunday relations with Saudi Arabia were strategically important, and that Ankara "attaches great important to its (Kingdom) security and stability." Turkey set up strong relations with Saudi Arabia over the past two years which deal with political, military, economic, cultural and trade spheres, Erdogan told a news conference at Ataturk Airport in Istanbul before embarking on a visit to Bahrain, the first leg of a Gulf tour that included Saudi Arabia and Qatar.
"We look at relations with Saudi Arabia from a strategic angle, and we attach great importance to its security and stability," he said.
Erdogan said he would discuss with the Saudi officials Syria, Iraq and Yemen, citing Saudi King Salman's important visit to Turkey last April.
On Bahrain, Erodgan said he and King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa would discuss economy, trade, infrastructure and defense industries.
In Doha, Erodgan said he and the Qatari officials would discuss strategic cooperation in military, defense industries and investment. (end) ta.bs
