WASHINGTON, Jan 6 (KUNA) -- US President-elect Donald Trump said his meeting with intelligence chiefs on Friday was "constructive" and that he would be forming a team to "aggressively" combat cyberattacks.
"We need to aggressively combat and stop cyberattacks. I will appoint a team to give me a plan within 90 days of taking office," he said in a statement after the briefing at Trump Tower in New York on Friday.
The briefing was carried out by National Intelligence Director James Clapper, CIA Director John Brennan and FBI Director James Comey.
It follows a recent US investigation which determined "senior most" Russian official involvement in hackings of Democratic Party emails during the 2016 presidential elections.
The findings led to the expulsion of 35 Russian diplomats from the US and sanctions on Russia's intelligence agency and officials by the Obama administration.
The Russian government has denied any wrongdoing.
Some officials in Washington had claimed that the hackings affected the outcome of the elections.
However, Trump, who stopped short of accusing Russia, said: "There was absolutely no effect on the outcome of the election," including unsuccessful attempts to hack the Republican National Committee.
Intelligence officials are expected to later declassify the details of the investigation. (end) sd.gb
