KUWAIT, Nov 16 (KUNA) -- The commercial relations between the United States and Kuwait have been deep and solid throughout history, a US official affirmed Wednesday.
The two countries also enjoy strong and historic partnership in various fields, including defense cooperation, Ken Hyatt, Acting Undersecretary of Commerce for International Trade, said in a press statement issued by US Embassy in Kuwait.
Hyatt made his remarks following conclusion of his visit, which to the country, which began on November 12th, alongside an accompanying commercial delegation that included representatives of 15 US firms specialized in the security and safety field.
"There is a long history of commercial ties between the United States and Kuwait," Hyatt said, adding that the companies represented on this delegation offer state-of-the-art technology in the safety and security sector and are well-positioned to enter the Kuwaiti market.
Meanwhile, US Ambassador Lawrence Silverman stressed the importance of such a visit, which provided the great chance to introduce the US companies specialized in security and safety to the Kuwaiti officials, whose ministries and institutions will benefit significantly from US services and technologies.
"This trade mission was a great opportunity to introduce US safety and security firms to key decision-makers at different ministries that we believe can benefit from US technology and services. The delegates were very pleased with the connections they made as they look to enter and expand their business in Kuwait," said the US diplomat.
During their visit, the delegation met with the Ministries of Interior and Defense, the Kuwait National Guard, and the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation during the trade mission, and learned about upcoming procurement opportunities, the process to bid on tenders, and established contacts within these state bodies.
