KUWAIT, Oct 15 (KUNA) -- 1907 -- The seventh Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Mubarak Al-Sabah, agreed to lease port of Shuwaikh to the British Navy.
1956 -- Ministry of Information established the government's printing press department, responsible for all state publications.
1966 -- Study started at Kuwait University's College of Sciences, Arts, and Education, and College of Women. The university was officially inaugurated on November 27, 1966.
1967 -- One of Kuwait's most famous singers, Abdullah Al-Fdhala, passed away at the age of 67. He sang, wrote music and lyrics, and was the first Kuwaiti to record his songs abroad and the first to use the piano in Kuwaiti songs.
1977 -- Deputy Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah issued a decree law on standardization.
1980 -- The Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah issued a decree law on issuing the trade law.
1983 -- Kuwait Airways received its first Airbus 310 airplane.
1987 -- A US oil tanker was attacked by shells in Al-Ahmedi Port.
1988 -- Friendship and Peace popular cafe was inaugurated in Shuwaikh area.
1990 -- The Kuwaiti Popular Conference ended meetings in Jeddah by issuing a final statement including many issues relevant to the liberation of the state of Kuwait from the Iraqi forces.
1996 -- An Amiri Decree was issued on formation of the 17th government in the history of Kuwait, chaired by His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah. The cabinet consisted of 14 ministers, including four MPs.
2002 -- Amiri Decree number 266/2002 was issued linking the exchange rate of the Kuwaiti dinar to the US Dollar, effective in January 2003.
2003 -- Kuwait Sports Club team won the 23rd Gulf basketball champions championship held in Kuwait after beating the Qatari team of Al-Rayan 71/67.
2004 -- Al-Rai Satellite Channel, the first Kuwaiti private television channel, began broadcasting.
2005 -- His Highnesss the Amir issued decree to establish embassy in Romania.
2005 -- His Highness the Amir issued decree to approve GCC-Turkey trade cooperation framework agreement signed in Bahrain.
2006 -- His Highness the Amir issued decree to appoint Saleh Mubarak Al-Falah as director of Kuwait Stock Exchange for four years.
