KUWAIT, Oct 8 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's National Ice Hockey Team announced the launch of its training camp Saturday to prepare for the forthcoming Asian Winter Games, slated for February 2017 in Sapporo, Japan.
The players are currently training for an upcoming Asian mini-tournament in Thailand, due by end of October, Fehaid Al-Ajmi, President of the Kuwait Winter Sports Club, told KUNA.
The mini-tournament is part of preparations for the major event in Sapporo, Al-Ajmi said, adding that the team will also hold a one-month training camp in Sweden on January 2017 prior to the winter games in Japan.
Moreover, the team will resume its training sessions for Kuwait's National League competitions, set to kick off in November, after returning from the Games, he noted.
Meanwhile, Al-Ajmi pointed out the huge support the team received by Kuwait's Public Authority for Sports, adding that this would boost the players' desire and determination to win a medal for the first time and hoist the Kuwaiti flag in Japan. (end)
