BRUSSELS, March 12 (KUNA) -- The EU welcomed Saturday the appointment as the new Secretary General yesterday of the League of Arab States, Ahmad Abul Ghait.
Abul Ghait's "experience, determination and leadership will be crucial in driving the League's initiatives forward in a region faced with multiple challenges and opportunities," said EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini in a statement.
"I look forward to working closely with Mr. Abul Ghait and the League of Arab States as a key partner of the EU," Mogherini added.
She expressed her thanks and appreciation go to the outgoing Secretary General, Nabil Al-Araby "for the constructive and excellent cooperation we have had over the past years." (end) nk.bs
