KUWAIT, Feb 16 (KUNA) -- Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC) has launched its first units to produce biofuel in Al-Ahmadi refinery, said the company's CEO Mohammad Al-Mutairi.
The project contains new units with a production capacity of over 42,000 barrels per day, Al-Mutairi told KUNA on Tuesday. The biofuel project is part of Kuwait's development plan and the 2030 strategic objectives of Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC), he added.
Meanwhile, a number of senior officials in the company said that each unit will be put into performance once it was fully set up.
The new units will increase the refinery's profits, while also reduce pollution by providing low-sulfur products, they added.
The project will also produce high quality substances such as gasoline with competitive prices, they said, adding that the launching process was fully safe and no accidents occurred during the execution of the project. (end) osj.ag
