RIYADH, Jan 18 (KUNA) -- Saudi authorities have detained a suspect wanted for an attempted arson attack on a government building in the eastern governorate of Qatif, the Saudi Interior Ministry said on Monday.
In a statement carried by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), a spokesperson for the Interior Ministry said that "in the interest of ongoing investigations, the identity of the detainee will not be disclosed." The detainee had joined several other suspects in hurling Molotov cocktails at the building in an attempt to set it ablaze, the statement added.
The detainee has confessed to committing other crimes including shooting at security vehicles and setting fire to a convoy carrying employees in the governorate, the statement said.
"The security forces are firm on bringing all perpetrators of all crimes that threaten peace and security to justice" the statement noted. (end) am.nam
