BAGHDAD, Jan 17 (KUNA) -- Three American citizens and their translator have been abducted in southern Baghdad, Iraqi Police confirmed late on Sunday.
A police source confirmed to KUNA that gunmen disguised as military personnel and boarding a four-wheel vehicle kidnapped the Americans and the translator on Dora highway in the city southern sector.
The four persons were heading from Baghdad Airport west of the city to the "green zone," when they were nabbed by the armed men posing as military troops.
Police are trying to determine their whereabouts, he said.
Such incidents have recently soared in Baghdad and other Iraqi cities. A number of Qatari hunters were taken as hostages in Al-Muthanna in the south in end of the past year. (end) ah.rk
