RIYADH, Dec 10 (KUNA) -- The supreme council has extolled the victories achieved by the polular resistance and the pro-legitimacy army in Yemen against the Houthi militias and troops loyal to former president Ali Abdullah Saleh and for the liberation of Aden and a number of Yemeni cities and governorates.
The final communique of the 36th GCC summit reaffirmed continuation of support and backing of Yemeni president Abd Rabboh Mansour Hadi and his legitimate government and to continue working towards restoring peace and stability to Yemen.
It also reiterated the GCC's full adherence to Yemen's soveriegnty and independence and reject any attempt to interfer in its internal affairs, while calling for a political solution according to the Gulf initiative and its executive mechanism.
It also hailed efforts exerted by the UN through the UN Secretary General's special envoy to Yemen Ismael Ould Sheikh Ahmad for the implementation of resolution 2216, welcoming the announcement for the resumption of dialogue in Switzerland on December 15, 2015 and the approval of the Yemeni government to be part of it.
The Supreme council also denounced the savage violations of the Houthi militias along with troops loyal to Saleh against civilians including torture, killing and kidnapping. (end) tg
