KUWAIT, Sept 20 (KUNA) -- The Ministry of Health affirmed Monday its preparedness to prevent cholera from entering the country through activation of all preventive measures.
The Ministry has contacted the General Administration of Customs for arranging the preventive measures, including barring the entry of foods with passengers, Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry for Public Health Affairs Dr. Majeda Al-Qattan told reporters.
"The border authorities were told to refer the arrivals at the crossing points to clinics for lab tests to ensure they are free of the infection," she revealed "The Ministry is also in contact with the World Health Organization over the situation of the disease in neighborly Iraq even before the WHO activated its surveillance systems to prevent a potential outbreak of the disease," Dr. Al-Qattan noted.
"All health facilities, including clinics and hospitals, were instructed to report on any suspected cases of cholera symptoms such diarrhea particularly in the run up to Eid Al-Adha holidays," she went on.
The Ministry's information office published a number of guidelines on the communicable disease and how to prevent its spread, she Al-Qattan concluded. (end) mf.amh.gb
