DOHA, Sept 4 (KUNA) -- Bader Al-Mutawa scored a hat-trick and assisted two goals as Kuwait outran a lackluster Myanmar 9-0 to add a second win and clean sheet to their successful 2019 Asian Cup and 2018 World Cup qualifier campaign while topping their group.
Striker Yousif Naser and midfielder Abdulaziz Al-Mashaan were also on the scoresheet with each claiming a brace in the Group G match, which comes on the back of a 1-0 victory over Lebanon. The group also includes South Korea.
Naser scored early 11 minutes into the first half after a clever pass from talisman Al-Mutawa. The striker found himself alone in goal as he slotted home a neat finish while inside the box.
The striker added a third goal for his side four minutes after Ali Maqseed's attempt also through generous delivery from an on-fire Al-Mutawa only a quarter of an hour into the match.
In the second half goals came hurling for Al-Azrag, with Faisal Zayed adding a fourth and a Myanmar defender scoring an own goal to make it five for West Asian side.
Abdulaziz Al-Mashaan, who had come on as a substitute, made an immediate impact as he put it in a sixth.
Al-Mutawa in the 68th minute added a seventh on the penalty spot after being tripped in the box by Aung Zaw, with the Myanmar defender immediately seeing his marching orders.
The Kuwaiti midfielder, who was left on until the end of the encounter by manager Nabil Maaloul had shone all night, and he repaid the faith shown in him by his manager with two more goals in the 89th and 91st minutes.
Kuwait currently sit atop Group G equal on points (six) and goals (10) with South Korea, who beat Laos 8-0 in the corresponding group fixture. (end)
