CAIRO, Aug 31 (KUNA) -- The Arab League Monday thanked Kuwait for its USD 15 million contribution to the UN Palestinian refugees agency (UNRWA), aimed at facilitating start of schools for Palestinian students.
Assistant Undersecretary for Palestine and Occupied Arab Territories Mohammad Sabeeh, in a statement to KUNA, urged Arab League member countries to honor their financial obligations towards UNRWA.
He appreciated the Arab countries - including Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) - for answering the Arab League's calls to support the UN agency.
He said the immediate financial support paved way for the start of schools in UNRWA-operated areas.
However, said Sabeeh, the "financial support paid now are temporary solutions and there should be solutions for the support of UNRWA in the coming years." (end) mfm.aff.bs
