BAGHDAD, Aug 13 (KUNA) -- The Iraqi government on Thursday announced the death of former interior minister, Watban Ibrahim Al-Hassan, a former half-brother of late president Saddam Hussein.
Al-Hassan died of an "incurable disease," spokesperson of the Ministry of Justice, Wesam Al-Fereji said in a statement.
He was suffering from several diseases and was under medical care by health committees of the Iraqi Corrections Service, Al-Fereji added.
Born in 1952, Al-Hassan held the post of the interior minister from 1991 to 1995. He was arrested northwest of Mosul in April 2003 and received a death sentence in March 2009. (end) ahh.maa.msa
