ISLAMABAD, July 16 (KUNA) -- At least four children were killed in a bomb blast in Afghanistan's central Maidan Wardak province on Thursday, said officials.
The Governor Spokesman Attaullah Khogyani told media that the children were playing outside the home of a local resident when the hidden bomb exploded in Otrai village of Syedabad district.
He further said that two children of four and 12 years age and another two children of ages two and 12 years old were killed in the blast. The dead bodies were shifted to the nearby hospital and a probe into the incident went underway. No group has so far claimed the responsibility of the blast.
The blast came at a time when Taliban rebels have paced up their attacks across Afghanistan following the annual warm weather offensive against the foreign and local security forces. (end) sbk.ibi
