TEHRAN, June 22 (KUNA) -- Iran and Syria signed Monday a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on cooperation in domestic security, fighting against terrorism and its financing.
The MoU, signed by the Iranian and Syrian Interior Ministers, Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli and Mohammad Al-Shaar respectively, calls for adopting preventive measures against terrorist acts, exchange of information, fighting organized crimes, cross-border crimes and drug trafficking, official IRNA news agency reported.
The MoU also calls for cooperation against stealing of antiquities, travel documents and credit cards, as well as money laundering, human trafficking and illegal immigration.
Fazli, at a joint news conference with Al-Shaar, said they have discussed ways of boosting collaboration against drug smuggling, human trafficking and border control.
He said a three-way meeting between Iran, Syria and Iraq would be held in Baghdad to discuss the fight against terrorism, extremism and crime. He did not specify time of the meeting. (end)
