ISLAMABAD, June 22 (KUNA) -- At least seven Taliban rebels were killed in a United States-led drone strike in Afghanistanآ’s eastern Nangarhar province, said an official on Monday.
Police Spokesman Col. Hazrat Hussain Mashriqiwal said in a statement that the unmanned aircraft fired a missile on a car carrying seven rebels in Batikot district of Nangarhar.
He claimed that three dreaded commanders, Khan Afzal, Hanifa and Dr Omar were among the slain militants, adding that a car and ammunition had been destroyed in the attack.
Earlier on Saturday, at least four Taliban rebels were killed in a US drone strike in Nangarhar. The drone strike came at a time when Taliban rebels have paced up their attacks across Afghanistan following the annual warm weather offensive against the foreign and local security forces. (end) sbk.mt
