RIYADH, June 18 (KUNA) -- A Saudi army Lieut-Colonel was killed as a landmine went off in the mountainous area of Jebel Towaileq in Jazan province near the southern borders with Yemen.
The incident took place on Wednesday midday while Lt.-Col. Abdullah Bin Saleh Al-Balwi was leading a combing operation in the area, SPA news agency reported Thursday, citing a statement by the Joint Command of the Saudi-led Coalition.
The border areas have been scenes of skirmishes between the Saudi forces, and the Yemeni Houthi rebels since the start of the military campaign against the Houthis and their allies on March 26. (end) od.gb
