ISLAMABAD, April 4 (KUNA) -- At least five policemen, four militants and a prayer leader were killed in clashes between militants and security forces in the Western Farah province of Afghanistan, said an official on Saturday.
Administrative chief of the town, Ghausuddin said in press remarks that a gun battle erupted when over a 100 rebels stormed the Afghan Local Police (ALP) check posts in the Maswa and Kharaba villages of Poshtrud district.
He further said that intense gun battle erupted between forces and militants, wounding four policemen.
A telecommunication tower had been damaged during the exchange of fire, which suspended communication in the area, added Ghausuddin, whose remarks were cited by local media in Islamabad. (end) sbk.bs
