KUWAIT, April 1 (KUNA) -- Minister of Information and State Minister for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Sabah Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah extolled on Wednesday Kuwait's hosting of the third donors conference and its pledge to donate USD 500 million for Syrian refugees.
In statements to KUNA, he said the pledge of USD 500 million by Kuwait and USD 506 million by NGOs further confirmed Kuwait's position as a center of humanitarian work and His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah as a humanitarian leader.
The minister added that up to 78 countries and over 40 international relief aid organizations took part in the donors conference, dedicated for the cause of Syrian refugees.
Emphasizing that the pledges at the conference topped USD 3.8 billion, he noted that his ministry had invited 150 journalists and media personnel from 35 countries to cover extensively proceedings of the momentous conference.
He expressed pride that all attendants of the conference had laudatory observations to make regarding the meticulous organization of the conference, which further confirmed the great esteem Kuwait has for humanitarian work. (end) mdm.ajs
