BAGHDAD, March 30 (KUNA) -- President of the US House of Representatives John Boehner arrived here on Monday for an official visit to Iraq.
Upon arrival, Boehner had immediate talks with Iraqi Parliament Speaker Salim Al-Jabouri on the latest Iraqi and regional developments, Al-Jabouri's advisor Ahmad Mahjoub told KUNA.
During the meeting, the top US lawmaker reiterated Washington's resolve to eliminate the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), and its support for the democratic and political process in Iraq, he said.
He added that US military backing to Iraq is part of Washington's nonstop help to this Arab country, Mahjoub added.
UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon arrived here earlier in the day for an official visit to Iraq for meetings with this Arab country's leaders.
Ban has already held talks with Iraqi President Fuad Massoum on the latest developments of the political process in Iraq, security and the fight against the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL). (end) mhg.mt
