Darfur negotiations kick off in Addis Ababa

KHARTOUM, Nov 23 (KUNA) -- Negotiations between Sudan's government and rebel groups; "Justice and Equality Movement" and "Sudan Liberation Movement" kicked off in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, official media reported Sunday.
The negotiations are held under auspices of the African Union High-Level Implementation Panel for Sudan, chaired by South African Ex-President Thabo Mbeki, according to Sudan News Agency (SUNA).
The two sides are to discuss the cease-fire issue regarding crisis in the border states of South Kordofan and Blue Nile, said SUNA.
The government high-level delegation is led by the Official of Darfur File, Dr. Amin Hassan Omar, while the Justice and Equality Movement delegation is headed by Jibril Ibrahim. The Sudan Liberation Movement delegation is headed by Meni Arko Menawi.
Upon their arrival, delegations of the two rebel movements met separately with Mbeki earlier today. (end) hhi.ma
