CAIRO, Nov 6 (KUNA) -- Arab League Secretary General Nabil Al-Araby on Thursday urged the European Union (EU) to follow the example of Sweden and recognize a Palestinian State.
Al-Araby made the call during a meeting with the EU ambassadors in Cairo. He added that Sweden became the 135th world country to recognize Palestine.
The Arab League Chief told a press conference following the meeting that he had requested the European states to support a potential draft resolution that could be submitted to the UN Security Council for ending the Israeli occupation.
"It is high time the (Israeli) occupation ended," Al-Araby stressed, referring to the severe sufferings by the Palestinian people. He also called for setting a time ceiling to realize the target.
In the meantime, Al-Araby warned against Israel's "escalating aggressive violations and provocations, that are unacceptable --- Israel's violations are countless and will continue until the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories ends." (end) mfm.rg.msa
