KUWAIT, Oct 15 (KUNA) -- Canadian Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird said on Wednesday that his current visit to Kuwait was "to extend Canada's thanks to His Highness the Amir of Kuwait for his continuous support against international terrorism including supporting the international coalition against ISIL." In a statement to KUNA, after meeting here with his Kuwaiti counterpart Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, Baird noted that the international coalition against ISIL would eventually destroy that group that has committed enormous crimes against humanity and has lined up against it numerous regional and international organizations.
Alluding to the meeting he had with his Kuwaiti counterpart today, Baird said the two spoke about bilateral relations, especially military ones, emphasizing the friendship between the two countries over the past 25 year period.
He said, among the functions he undertook here today, was to visit the Canadian military base in the country.
On a related note the Canadian minister stressed the significance of the conferment of the title of Humanity Leader to His Highness the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah due to his distinctive role in ameliorating humanitarian conditions worldwide. (end) shf.ajs
