BRUSSELS, Aug 13 (KUNA) -- The EU is deeply troubled by reports of escalating violence in Tripoli and Benghazi, an EU spokesperson said here Wednesday.
"Indiscriminate attacks that harm civilians and their property are unacceptable and must stop," the spokesperson told journalists requesting anonymity.
The spokesperson reminded that the International Criminal Court it will prosecute those who commit crimes under its jurisdiction in Libya.
"We urge all parties to actively cooperate with UNSMIL, in particular with the team sent to Tripoli to facilitate an immediate cease-fire and urge all sides to respond positively and without delay," said the spokesperson.
The EU encourages the Council of Representatives in Libya to carry out its tasks in a spirit of inclusiveness, moderation and in the interest of the country, added the spokesperson. (end) nk.ibi
